Based on our five-year plan, which begins in Fiscal Year of 2008, Tamagawa University will develop human resources and advance cutting-edge research in our Global COE Program "Origins of the Social Mind", which is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Thus, we are recruiting research assistants (RA) based on the following criteria.
- Research Tasks
- To conduct original research as part of Tamagawa University Global COE Program "Origins of the Social Mind", research assistants must submit an achievement report using the Tamagawa University Research Assistant (RA) Performance Report at the end of each fiscal year.
- Candidate Qualifications
- Graduate students currently enrolled in any of the following doctoral programs at Tamagawa University may apply: Brain Informatics in the Graduate School of Engineering, Systems Science in the Graduate School of Engineering, or Biological Resources in the Graduate School of Agriculture provided that the applicant's supervisor has been appointed as a person in charge of program development or a research collaborator in the Global COE Program "Origins of the Social Mind". However, if the applicant does not meet the above criteria, but the supervisor is appointed as a person in charge of program development, please consult the Office of Research Coordination, Tamagawa University Research Institute.
- Salary for Research Assistant (RA)
- RAs shall be paid an hourly wage of 2,220 yen. However, the maximum monthly work hours shall be determined by the Research Assistant (RA) Evaluation Committee, and have yet to be established.
- Employment Period
- October 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009

- Selection Process
- The Research Assistant (RA) Evaluation Committee, which will be established within the program, will perform the selection.Candidates who pass the document screening (primary screening) will receive an interview (secondary screening).
- Date for Hiring Decision and Notification
- We plan to send notifications about the hiring decision by Friday, September 5, 2008.
- Payment of Wages
- RAs will be paid monthly beginning in October 2008. However, if a problem arises with regard to the progress or manner of research tasks conducted, the content of the research may be changed or employment may be terminated.
- Performance Report at the End of the Fiscal Year
- Each RA must submit a Tamagawa University Research Assistant (RA) Performance Report through his or her research supervisor to the Office of Research Coordination, Tamagawa University Research Institute prior to Friday, March 6, 2009.
- Other Details
- Graduate students recruited to DC1 or DC2 of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science shall not apply as RAs. Applicants receiving other scholarships or financial aid as a research assistant (RA) or an equivalent position may apply for this position. In such circumstances, correctly fill out the name of the position you currently have, the amount you are receiving, and payment period planned in appropriate fields in the application form. Hiring decisions for the research assistant (RA) position will be made based on the situations provided.
