Message from the President

Our program, "Origins of the Social Mind", which is centered around Tamagawa University Brain Science Institute, was selected as one of the recipients for the Global COE (interdisciplinary, combined field and new disciplines) grant in 2008.  It is a great honor to be selected as one of twelve recipients out of 111 applicants in this category, especially because only few private universities were chosen. I believe our selection is the result of our continuous commitment to education and research activities in brain science in the last decade.  Additionally, this is a proof that even middle-sized universities like ours are capable of developing a world-class education and research centers by making honest efforts.

Through our research, which is set in cooperative framework within Tamagawa University as well as our research partner, California Institute of Technology, we will establish the world's highest level research base to foster creative researchers capable of leading the world in this field.
